Classroom teacher, grades 7-12, Catholic schools in Louisville, KY and Cincinnati, OH (Presentation Academy, Sacred Heart Academy, McAuley High School). Training Officer, Naval Reserve Center, Louisville. Classroom teaching and teacher development. Adult Education program development and classroom teaching as a clinical social worker with adults, adolescents, and children in various agency programs. I want to be a tutor in order to help students develop a thirst for learning and a strong sense of self-esteem, self-confidence, and academic excellence. I have always believed that "knowledge is power" and always sought to instill that sense in my students and clients. As a private tutor I hope to be able to offer that personal attention that is so often missing in the classroom setting. I have had formal college coursework in teaching methods, curriculum development, student evaluation, mathematics, history, English, philosophy, theology, biological sciences, sociology, psychology, earth sciences, and writing. As a clinical therapist I have worked with adults and children and had coursework in self-esteem building and personal empowerment. I have developed and taught courses for both adults and younger learners and have supervised/mentored a student intern at the graduate school level. I have worked as a therapist in the schools helping challenged learners deal with difficulties tied to emotional problems and learning differences.
